I suppose the 1979 Ace reissue is perhaps expanded further -- I haven't seen that version. It's interesting that it was first published in German -- it would be interesting to compare the three versions.

Thanks for the confirmation that "When the Dream Dies" is RENDEZVOUS ON A LOST WORLD, as I had suspected.Rich Hortonhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07659613066689174738noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-257559067333970126.post-8319180851440220772018-06-04T02:49:55.870-07:002018-06-04T02:49:55.870-07:00THE DOOR THROUGH SPACE appears to be Bradley's...THE DOOR THROUGH SPACE appears to be Bradley's first book publication, of sorts. It appeared in Germany in 1959, where the publishers subsequently lost the manuscript. The expanded English version did not appear until twenty years later with Bradley re-translating parts of the German text. (This per ISFDb.)

Chandler's RENDEZVOUS ON A LOST WORLD was published as WHEN THE DREAM DIES in the February 1961 AMAZING STORIES. Most British publications of the book used the WHEN THE DREAM DIES title.Jerry Househttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09482856733981933159noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-257559067333970126.post-6233694336593707372018-06-03T18:05:42.505-07:002018-06-03T18:05:42.505-07:00When reading your reviews of books that I have on ...When reading your reviews of books that I have on my shelves, I find it curious that I’ve no recollection of most of them beyond the cover. And from your review, can’t imagine ever reading and enjoying. I suppose fifty years and an iffy memory may well explain that, and yet, there are books from the same era, both good and bad, that I at least recall reading. In this case, I have a second hand copy of the first version that I no doubt picked up for the Chandler story – though I’ve no recollection of the story. I likely did not even read the MZB story as she was not a writer I liked. Charles Litkahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15182265039055575093noreply@blogger.com
